Prosper Healthtech Accelerator Announces Startups Selected for Fall 2022 Cohort

Five companies innovating in the healthcare industry to receive $60K each

Birmingham, Ala. - The Prosper Healthtech Accelerator, powered by gener8tor, announced the cohort of five startups selected for its 2022 accelerator program, each of which will receive a $60,000 investment alongside the coaching, mentorship and connections needed to build and scale their businesses.

The companies are Birmingham-based BluTapp, as well as Dawatek, OK2StandUP, Xplosion Technology and CLAIRE, which are relocating from around the country to Birmingham for the accelerator program. Learn more about each company.

“We are thrilled to welcome our second cohort to Alabama (including our first Birmingham-based company) building off the momentum of the success of our first group of founders and the recent OnRamp HealthCare Conference,” said JW Carpenter, president of Prosper. “I am confident that as our larger community continues to embrace our work with gener8tor at the Prosper Healthtech Accelerator, we can demonstrate that Birmingham is the place to be for diverse health tech startups that want to grow their companies and change the world.”

The Prosper Healthtech Accelerator is a 12-week accelerator that invests in five startups per program. Each cohort is kept small to ensure meaningful engagement with the program team, network and other resources. Participants receive intensive and individualized coaching and access to Prosper and gener8tor’s national network of mentors, customers, corporate partners and investors. Throughout the 12 weeks, the program team will help each startup secure customers, gain mentorship, accelerate their revenue growth and secure additional funding through the support of Redhawk, the investment advisor managing Prosper’s fund along with other investment partners.

“I am excited to be working with this group of founders, who were chosen from a competitive group of applicants,” said Douglas Watson, managing director of the Prosper Healthtech Accelerator. “They are building solutions and companies that will not only have a great impact in Birmingham, Jefferson County and Alabama but nationwide.”

The 2022 Fall Prosper Healthtech Accelerator program kicked off on August 25 in conjunction with the OnRamp Healthcare Conference hosted in Birmingham and will conclude on November 17. The five companies taking part in the Birmingham-based program were recruited from around the world, went through a rigorous application and interview process, and were chosen from among hundreds of applicants because of their strong performance on five key elements: healthcare system impact, team, traction, product/service and market opportunity. Two of the five companies who participated in the spring 2022 cohort have since relocated to Birmingham and raised nearly $1M in follow-on funding through Redhawk and other investors.
