FAQs
What is the gener8tor University Recruiting Initiative (URI)?
URI is gener8tor’s pipeline for discovering high-potential university technologies and connecting them with accelerators, venture studios, and investors to help turn research into fundable startups.
Who should apply to gener8tor's URI?
Faculty, postdocs, graduate students, and spinout teams developing IP-based technologies across deep tech, life sciences, software, climate, and advanced manufacturing.
Do I need to have a company already formed?
No. Many teams meet URI before forming a company. We help evaluate commercial potential and guide you through the spinout process when you're ready.
How does gener8tor collaborates with my technology transfer office?
gener8tor works in partnership with your university’s TTO to ensure that IP, licensing, and compliance processes align with institutional policies.
What stage of research is a good fit?
Teams with early validation—pilot data, prototypes, working demos, or clear market hypotheses—are best positioned to benefit from the initiative.
What support does gener8tor provide to URI companies?
Market validation, mentorship, investor introductions, pitch preparation, and connections to the gener8tor program best suited for your sector and stage.
Does gener8tor take equity?
Meeting with URI is free and non-dilutive. Standard terms apply only if you later join a gener8tor accelerator or venture studio program.
Can universities partner with gener8tor’s URI?

“The biggest impact was investor connections and mentorship. I built ongoing relationships with mentors and learned how to put together a strong executive summary and pitch deck.”
“The program provided invaluable feedback, meaningful connections, and support from mentors and advisors who genuinely care about startup success.”
