Local Companies Drive Early Revenue for gBETA Gulf Coast Startups Through Pilots and Contracts
By JD Jernigan, Program Manager, gBETA Gulf Coast
The latest gBETA Gulf Coast cohort recently wrapped, and several participating startups are already working directly with Mobile-area companies through pilot projects and early contracts, offering a closer look at how local partnerships are helping early-stage ventures gain traction.
In multiple cases, these relationships have moved beyond initial testing into ongoing engagements. For startups, that creates a faster path to revenue. For established Gulf Coast companies, it provides access to emerging tools that can address operational challenges in real time.
Several recent examples highlight how these partnerships are taking shape:
Graphite Atlas, which develops real-time visual maps of business operations, has worked with partners including Ope Labs, Prism Systems, and Rogers & Willard to help organizations better understand internal processes and decision-making structures.
SkillFrame, an AI platform designed to automate sales and recruiting workflows, has collaborated with local partners including Merchants Transfer, Ope Labs, Atrium, and the University of South Alabama.
EquipSense, which supports equipment-heavy businesses with tracking and utilization insights, has tested its technology with Gulf Coast partners such as JubileeScapes.
These collaborations reflect a broader model emerging on the Gulf Coast, where established companies are engaging with startups across multiple levels, from product testing and mentorship to direct investment.
Mobile-based logistics company Merchants Transfer is one example. The company has worked with several startups as a mentor, pilot partner and investor.
Across the region, this approach is helping close a common gap for early-stage companies: access to real customers. By connecting startups with businesses willing to test and adopt new technologies, the model creates mutual value, supporting innovation while strengthening the local economy.
As more Gulf Coast companies participate, these early partnerships are shaping a practical pathway for startups to scale while staying rooted in the region.
Applications for the next gBETA Gulf Coast cohort are currently open, with a deadline of September 20. Interested founders can learn more and apply here: gBETA Gulf Coast — gener8tor.
