gener8tor Expands Partnership With Prosper to Launch Birmingham Startup Pre-Accelerator

Birmingham, Ala. - Global venture firm and startup accelerator, gener8tor, in partnership with Prosper, kicked off the inaugural gBETA Prosper Healthtech cohort in October. The gBETA accelerator focuses on early-stage companies working in healthtech. See details about the selected companies at the end of this release.

Prosper and gener8tor first began their partnership last spring with the Prosper Healthtech Investment Accelerator, an equity accelerator focused on innovations in healthtech. Over the past year, the Prosper Healthtech Investment Accelerator has supported 10 companies across two cohorts, including two companies relocating to Birmingham following the program.

Building on this success, Prosper and gener8tor are expanding the partnership to include gBETA, a non-equity-based accelerator program, during the fall of 2022. gener8tor gBETA is a free seven-week, no-equity accelerator program that provides startup founders with intensive concierge coaching and access to its national network of mentors, customers, corporate partners and investors. The programs are designed to set a path for startups to participate in equity-based accelerator programs and investment opportunities.

gener8tor recruited startups nationally for the gBETA program in an effort to support homegrown companies while also attracting startups to relocate to Birmingham.

“We are thrilled to expand our partnership with gener8tor and work to build our pipeline of great diverse HealthTech startups that continue to make Birmingham one of the premiere places to be if you are an early stage health tech founder,” said J.W. Carpenter, Prosper executive director.

“Expanding our programming with Prosper to bring this program to life is very exciting,” said Lauren Usher, gener8tor gBETA vice president. “We’ve seen the incredible economic impact of the gBETA program in other industries and other parts of the country, and we’re excited to bring that same impact to Birmingham’s healthtech innovation ecosystem.”

At the end of the gBETA program, startup founders will showcase their companies to investors, community partners and the public at a showcase event in conjunction with the Prosper Healthtech Investment Accelerator at 6 p.m. on Nov. 15 at Avenue D, 3008 4th Ave S  Birmingham, AL 35233.

Startup companies and founders interested in learning more about gBETA’s programming and resources or applying to a future program are encouraged to visit the gener8tor gBETA website.
