gener8tor Founder Series Spotlight: Seth Terry, New Day Hydrogen

In this episode, we’re featuring Seth Terry, Co-Founder and CEO of New Day Hydrogen, a Colorado-based energy company developing small-scale, on-site hydrogen systems that produce, compress, and store hydrogen for vehicle fueling and other localized uses.

New Day Hydrogen is focused on making early energy transition infrastructure more affordable and practical for centralized fleets. By enabling on-site hydrogen production and fueling, the company is working to reduce logistical barriers and accelerate the adoption of clean energy solutions in transportation.

Seth first participated in gBETA Colorado in spring 2022, followed by the U.S. Venture Sustainability Accelerator Powered by gener8tor in Appleton in spring 2023. Through these programs, he and his team were able to sharpen the company’s focus and messaging, define actionable milestones, and engage early fleet stakeholders while validating the company’s approach during a critical stage of growth.

Beyond strategic guidance, the investment capital provided through the programs helped the team maintain momentum and continue building during a pivotal phase for the company.

Seth also points to Colorado’s broader innovation ecosystem as an important factor in building a clean energy company. The state’s strong network of public universities, national laboratories, and climate-focused policy initiatives creates an environment where emerging energy technologies can be developed and tested.

Key insight from Seth Terry

  • “Cash is king. You can bootstrap for a while, but ultimately survival depends on early validation and attracting the investment that keeps the vision alive.”

What Seth is looking for

  • Equity investors who understand long-term infrastructure opportunities

  • Fleet partners interested in practical hydrogen deployment

  • Local stakeholders in Fort Collins, Denver, and Pueblo interested in supporting affordable hydrogen infrastructure

Seth’s journey highlights how founders building in complex sectors like energy infrastructure must balance long-term vision with early validation and strategic partnerships. With the right ecosystem support and a clear focus on real-world deployment, companies like New Day Hydrogen are helping move the clean energy transition from concept to reality.
