We’re excited to introduce gener8tor as the culmination of a lot of work in putting together an ecosystem to build scalable, innovative startups in Wisconsin.  gener8tor’s work began with its founding team members from Granite MEDSystems and 94labs.  Together we’ve worked with dozens of startups and learned first hand what differentiates the winners from the losers and how to become one over the other.  What we want for gener8tor is quite simple: to win.  And for us to win, we need our startups to win.

Our customers at gener8tor are the entrepreneurs and investors.  Our goal is to put them together in a way that drives value for both.  And we want it to be sustainable.

For Granite, it began thirty-years ago with two entrepreneurs, two filing cabinets and a door for a desk.  Today it’s a global operation that has provided a handsome return to its customers, investors, employees and community.  With operations in the United States and China in the software and hardware space, Granite MEDSystems team has over 150 –years combined experience in customer and software development.  We’re excited to bring Granite’s team, network, capability and expertise to gener8tor.

For Joe Kirgues and Joel Abraham of 94labs, it began 18-months ago with Wisconsin’s first seed incubator program.  Starting from scratch in late 2010, 94labs worked with over two-dozen software startups and succeeded in securing over a million dollars in capital before any of its startups turned one-year old.  With experience across a broad range of software startups and industries, Joe and Joel bring with them the tools that will be necessary to help gener8tor’s startups position themselves for success.

gener8tor has already begun its Accelerator Program through its lead investments in three exciting Wisconsin software startups: Shindig, Door-6, and UConnect.  These three startups are graduates of the 94labs program and have begun the exciting work of validating and scaling their startups.  These three startups sit in gener8tor’s Accelerator program where staff work with the startups through its capital, expertise and network to validate the startup’s customer base and assist in securing follow-on financing where necessary to propel further growth.

gener8tor’s Accelerator Program is modeled after the successful model used by YCombinator and offers its participants a small capital investment for a minor equity stake in the company as well as access to the program’s network, expertise and community.
